Plum Creek Promotes Laura B. Smith to Vice President and Treasurer

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2007--Plum Creek Timber Company,Inc. (NYSE: PCL) has promoted Laura B. Smith to vice president andtreasurer. In this role, Smith will oversee Plum Creek's corporateplanning and treasury functions.
Smith, 39, joined Plum Creek in 2003 as director of planning andwas named treasurer in 2006. In her new role, she will continue toreport to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer DavidLambert.
"Laura has been an integral part of Plum Creek's management team,"said Lambert. "She brings an impressive background filled withinvestment banking and capital markets expertise, which will serve herwell as vice president and treasurer."
Smith joined Plum Creek after a 12-year career at Goldman, Sachs &Co. During that time she worked in investment banking in New York andlater served as vice president and business unit manager of Goldman'sprivate wealth management office in Seattle.
Smith graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Sciencedegree in applied mathematics. She also earned a Master of BusinessAdministration degree in finance from Columbia Business School.
