Weyerhaeuser Again Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Oct 6, 2010

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., October 6, 2010 Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that it is the only building materials company named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America, which tracks North American companies in terms of their economic, environmental and social performance. Weyerhaeuser has been named to the DJSI North America every year since its inception in 2005.

The DJSI follows a best-in-class approach and includes sustainability leaders from each industry on a global and regional level. The annual review is based on an assessment of corporate economic, environmental and social performance, covering issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labor practices.

“We manage a precious resource — land and trees — to provide sustainable products and services for the world.” said Dan Fulton, president and chief executive officer. “We are honored to again receive this recognition for our work to protect the ecosystems on which we rely, fuel human progress towards sustainable solutions, nourish the communities in which we operate, and operate our businesses with long-term prosperity in mind.”

The DJSI North America covers the leading 20 percent in terms of sustainability of the 600 largest North American companies in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index.

“We evaluate our progress towards our sustainability goals each year,” Fulton said. “Third-party recognition, such as the DJSI, helps affirm that our sustainability commitments and performance are delivering the results our stakeholders expect.”
