Weyerhaeuser Reminds Forest Visitors to Call Toll-Free Hunter/Recreational Use Hotlines in Oregon and Washington

Jul 24, 2009

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., July 24, 2009 Due to increasing fire danger, visitors planning a trip to Weyerhaeuser forestlands in Oregon and Washington are reminded to call the company’s statewide, toll-free telephone numbers before heading out to the woods. In Washington, the company announced earlier this week that the tree farms in Vail, Aberdeen, and Raymond would be temporarily closed to public recreational access. Important public access information is available throughout high fire danger seasons in both states via the hotline numbers below.

Weyerhaeuser Hunter and Recreational Use Hotline:

Oregon: 888-741-5403

Washington: 866-636-6531

The 24-hour numbers are the primary information source for people hunting, fishing or hiking on Weyerhaeuser’s tree farms in Oregon and Washington.

The recorded message alerts callers about closures that may be necessary due to fire danger or logging activity. It also gives information about safety, motorized vehicle use, and hunting and visitor rules. The year-round hotline is a helpful planning tool when considering a trip to Weyerhaeuser forests.

Safety is Weyerhaeuser’s top concern. Weyerhaeuser relies on visitors to help keep company lands open for public use by reporting any activity that puts them or our tree farms at risk. Vandalism, garbage dumping and unsafe activities cannot be tolerated, and could result in closures. Weyerhaeuser appreciates the public’s cooperation in helping keep our forests open and available.

Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world's largest forest products companies, was incorporated in 1900. In 2008, sales were $8 billion.
