Weyerhaeuser Announces Change in Operating Posture in 2009 for the Forest Learning Center

May 4, 2009

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., May 4, 2009 Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced it is adjusting the operating posture for the Forest Learning Center for 2009.

The change will reduce the hours and days that the entire facility is open for the 2009 season. The Forest Learning Center will be open from May 16th through September 7th, Friday through Sunday only and from the hours of 10am until 4pm. The indoor exhibits will also be available on the anniversary date of the Mt St Helens Eruption (May 18), as well as Memorial Day, the Monday following Fourth of July, and Labor Day. In addition, the gift shop, restrooms, and Center’s outdoor facilities will be open seven days a week from 10am-6pm. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) rest area hours will mirror the hours of operation for the gift shop.

“We are pleased to be able to keep the Forest Learning Center open during these difficult economic times. The Forest Learning Center celebrates the return of the forests at Mount St. Helens and is an important link to the community and our history of sustainable forestry,” said Terri Fittro, Director of the Forest Learning Center.

In prior years the Center was open seven days a week, during the summer season, and the hours of operation were 10am to 6pm. For more information about the Forest Learning Center please visit http://www.mountsthelens.weyerhaeuser.com.
