Weyerhaeuser Announces Management Changes: Gideon, Branson, Holmes Assume New Roles; Keller Retires

Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced the appointment of Thomas F. Gideon, 55, as senior vice president, Containerboard Packaging and Recycling, effective immediately. He succeeds James R. Keller, 56, who retires after 32 years with the company.

James (Mike) M. Branson, 51, succeeds Gideon as senior vice president, Timberlands.

Gideon and Branson will report to Richard E. Hanson, executive vice president and chief operating officer. Both will serve on the company's operating committee which executes the business and portfolio strategies agreed upon by the board and chief executive officer.

Tom R. Holmes, 57, succeeds Branson as vice president, Southern Timberlands and will report to Branson.

Gideon joined Weyerhaeuser in 1978 and worked in diverse leadership roles including work design, labor relations, business human resources, sales and marketing, manufacturing, and business leadership. He was appointed senior vice president, Timberlands in 2005 and added responsibility for Newsprint and Bleached Board in 2006.

Branson joined Weyerhaeuser in 1979 and held leadership roles in finance, wood products manufacturing, and most recently as vice president Southern Timberlands.

Holmes joined Weyerhaeuser in 1972 and held numerous forestry positions in Canada before assuming the role of vice president, Canadian Forestlands in 2005, his current position.
