iLevel™ by Weyerhaeuser, the company's new integrated residential framing business, is joining with Habitat for Humanity, builders, and other building materials suppliers to help construct simple, decent homes for families across the United States. Habitat for Humanity estimates that the new homes built during the blitz will provide quality shelter for more than 1,000 people.
"Working with Habitat for Humanity is a deep passion for us," said Lee Alford, senior vice president of Residential Wood Products for Weyerhaeuser. "Helping people get into -- and enjoy -- their own homes is something we are always happy to be a part of."
Building on Weyerhaeuser's past support of Habitat for Humanity, iLevel will donate structural framing materials and funding, along with employee volunteer hours for the blitz. The company will provide $250,000 of framing products and $200,000 has been donated by the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation.
According to Habitat for Humanity, since its founding in 1976, it has built more than 200,000 homes in nearly 100 countries. The idea for a nationwide building blitz began in Raleigh, North Carolina, where previously 12 builders built 12 homes in one week.
