First of 25 Homes Goes Up to Celebrate Mt. St. Helens 25th Anniversary

What: Local employees from 15 Portland-area Weyerhaeuser facilities, Fred Meyer and Parr Lumber Company are teaming with Willamette West Habitat for Humanity to build a single-family home on Lindsay Lane in Hillsboro.
To kick off the home-building effort, employees will raise by hand the first framed wall of the home and hear a short presentation by the four partners, followed by a BBQ lunch.
The Hillsboro home is the first of 25 homes being built by Weyerhaeuser in the United States and Canada to mark the 25th anniversary the of the Mount St. Helens eruption.
A truckload of the first harvested lumber from the working forest at Mount St. Helens will provide the backdrop for the event.
The home is being built for a couple with four children, ages 2-8, who are currently living in a two-bedroom apartment in an area unsuitable for children. The family may be present for the wall-raising event.

Who: Speakers will include Nate Bond, sales director from Parr Lumber, a representative from Fred Meyer, a Weyerhaeuser representative and John Godsey, director of the local Habitat organization. Jack McGowan, a local community leader and Hillsboro resident, will serve as emcee.

Lindsay Lane Job Site Directions
Lindsay Lane is a 19-home development under construction by Willamette West Habitat for Humanity. It is a combination of single and multi-family homes with three separate play spaces for the children who will be living in this community.
The property, at 7281 SE Lindsay Lane, is located between Tualatin Valley Highway and SE Johnson Street in Hillsboro, off SE 73rd Avenue.
From Portland:
Take Hwy 26 West to Cornelius Pass off ramp turn right (south) onto Cornelius Pass Road (which becomes 219th St), until you reach Tualatin Valley Hwy (TV Hwy/OR 8). Turn Right onto TV Highway, drive to SE 73rd Avenue (@ the Tuff Shed) and turn right. Proceed approx 2 blocks to the WWHFH site, located on the left side of the road.
From Beaverton:
Take TV Hwy/OR 8 West to SE 73rd Avenue (@ the Tuff Shed) and turn right. Proceed approx 2 blocks to the WWHFH site, located on the left side of the road.
From Tigard & South:
Take Hwy 217 north to Exit 2A (OR-8/OR-10/Canyon Rd). Go to second light (Canyon Rd.), turn left and follow OR 8 to SE 73rd Avenue (@ the Tuff Shed), turn right.
PARKING
No parking is allowed along the entrance to Lindsay Lane. It is a FIRE LANE. Parking is allowed on the parking pads, BUT it can be tight when it comes time to leave. The best choice is to park along SE 73rd Avenue or in the field between TV Hwy and 2885 SE 73rd Avenue. If you park along SE 73rd Avenue, please remember the mailboxes need 10 feet of clearance for the Post Office vehicle.
