Weyerhaeuser Names Shaker Chandrasekaran VP, Cellulose Fibers Manufacturing; Eric Ashby Is New Kamloops, British Columbia Mill Manager

Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that Shaker Chandrasekaran, 55, has been named vice president, Cellulose Fibers manufacturing, replacing James E. Watson, 56, who will be retiring in August.

Chandrasekaran will be responsible for operations at the company's 12 North American pulp mills and for coordinating manufacturing with the product development, scheduling and sales efforts of the company's Cellulose Fibers Business.

Chandrasekaran started his career in the industry in 1972. He worked through a variety of technical and management roles with several forest products companies in India and in the United States and came to Weyerhaeuser with the 2002 acquisition of Willamette Industries. He was most recently vice president, mill manager of the company's Kamloops, British Columbia pulp mill.

He holds a master of science in paper science and engineering from Miami University, Ohio; a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Madras, India. He also has completed executive leadership education programs at the University of Virginia's Darden Business School and at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Business School.

J. Eric Ashby, 38, currently operations manager at Weyerhaeuser's Dryden, Ontario, mill succeeds Chandrasekaran as vice president, mill manager at Kamloops.

Ashby joined Weyerhaeuser in 2002 as production manager, paper mill and converting, at the company's Dryden, Ont., Fine Paper mill. He started in the industry in 1991, working through a variety of engineering, technical and leadership assignments with Canada-based forest products companies. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal, a masters in pulp and paper engineering, from McGill University, Montreal, and an executive MBA from Queen's School of Business, Ottawa.
