Hogans Announces Retirement From Weyerhaeuser

Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that Mack L. Hogans, senior vice president, Corporate Affairs, is retiring at the end of 2004. He will step out of his current role at the end of July and work on an orderly process for transitioning his responsibilities as well as take on a number of assignments that will moderate his travel, other schedule commitments and the day-to-day demands of his current role.

"I will greatly miss Mack. He has been a vital member of our senior management team and will always be viewed as a key reason for the company's success," said Steven R. Rogel, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "But I understand his desire at this time to moderate his schedule. I am delighted that he will be with us for several more months to ensure a smooth transition and wish him the best in his retirement."

Hogans joined Weyerhaeuser in 1979 as a forester. He has held numerous positions in the Wood Products business and Government Affairs before being named to his current role in 1995. As a member of the Weyerhaeuser senior management team, Hogans leads the functions of corporate communications, corporate philanthropy, government affairs and environment, health and safety. He was responsible for leading the integration of MacMillan Bloedel into Weyerhaeuser and establishing the company's entry into an electronic commerce joint venture.
A member of numerous boards in the Puget Sound area, Hogans is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a masters of science degree in forestry from the University of Washington.
