When it comes to newsprint, NORPAC is the top supplier in North America, according to an independent, industry-wide survey released this week. The survey marks the fourth time in the last five years that the Longview newsprint mill has either earned or tied for this top rating.

The annual survey also shows customers consider NORPAC "Best in the West" -- an honor NORPAC has earned for the last five years.

Managed by MGT of Jacksonville, Fla., the survey queries newspaper publishers, production managers and purchasing managers to assess the product quality, technical service, sales and customer service of more than 12 newsprint suppliers.

NORPAC's 460 employees produce newsprint for newspapers and magazines published in the western United States and Japan. NORPAC is Weyerhaeuser's joint venture with Nippon Paper Industries of Japan. Founded in 1976, NORPAC is the largest newsprint facility in North America.
