Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation To Donate $100,000 For Grays Harbor Relief Agencies

May 26, 2009

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., May 26, 2009 The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation today announced it will award $100,000 to relief agencies in Grays Harbor County.

The state of Washington, not unlike the rest of the country, is currently dealing with the challenges presented by the recent upset economic conditions.  Grays Harbor is one of the counties that has been affected most by the recent downturn in the economy.

“Weyerhaeuser has been a part of the Grays Harbor Community for nearly 100 years and we are committed to helping our neighbors transition through this difficult period,” said Bruce Amundson, President of the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation.

Weyerhaeuser foundation representatives will work with community representatives to develop a strategy to target these additional foundation dollars to the areas of highest need in the community.  The donation will be in addition to the community’s foundation budget, which is $78,000 for 2009.

The mission of the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation, established in 1948, is to release the potential in people to strengthen our communities and advance sustainability. Over the last 60 years, the Foundation has directed more than $200 million to the communities where Weyerhaeuser employees work, live and play.
