Weyerhaeuser Names Hunter VP of Southern Timberlands

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., May 4, 2009 Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that Rhonda Hunter has been named vice president–Southern Timberlands effective June 1.

 

In her new role, Hunter will oversee the operation of 4.1 million acres of timberlands in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

 

She will report directly to Mike Branson, senior vice president – Timberlands.

Hunter succeeds Tom Holmes who will return to Canada and plans to retire later this year.

“In addition to our outstanding timberlands assets, this region also represents a significant opportunity for revenue growth from minerals, oil and gas and biofuels,” Branson said. “Rhonda’s strong leadership and analytical skills will be critical as we capture full value from our managed forests.  I also want to acknowledge Tom’s leadership of the Southern Timberlands team over the past two years. Rhonda inherits a strong leadership team and operations due to Tom’s work.”

Hunter joined Weyerhaeuser in 1987 and has held numerous accounting and finance positions in addition to serving as the Arkansas/Oklahoma regional manager before assuming her current role as director of planning and inventory for Southern Timberlands.
