Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that two oriented strand board mills in Canada and one in West Virginia will implement a reduced operating posture due to weak demand, beginning first week of March. This reduction will take 500 million to 600 million square feet of oriented strand board out of Weyerhaeuser's system on an annual basis.

"Despite the best efforts of our mill employees, we cannot avoid reducing supply from these mills," said Phil Dennett, vice president of iLevel Strand Technologies. "We're taking this action to balance our production with market demand."

Dennett said Weyerhaeuser is monitoring customer demand closely and will adjust its operating plans accordingly.
