Weyerhaeuser Names David A. Larsen, VP, Corporate Communications

Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) today announced that David A. Larsen, 50, has been named vice president, Corporate Communications effective April 25.

In his new role, Larsen will report directly to Ernesta Ballard, senior vice president, Corporate Affairs. He will be responsible for the management of Weyerhaeuser's reputation advertising; external and internal communications; and for providing strategic counsel to the Senior Management Team, Weyerhaeuser businesses and staff leaders.

"Dave's extensive experience in communications and public affairs will be critical to ensuring that Weyerhaeuser's communications activities support our strategic business needs and protect our public license to operate," Ballard said. "Weyerhaeuser is a dynamic and changing company and Dave will play an important role in helping establish a two-way dialogue with stakeholders critical to our success."

Larsen joined Weyerhaeuser in 1989 as manager, corporate communications for Canada. In 1993, he was named director, government and public affairs before being appointed vice president, Government and Public Affairs -- Canada, in 1997. In that role, he was responsible for oversight of issues management, internal and external communications, government relations, community relations, and philanthropy.

Larsen holds a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from the University of British Columbia and did post-graduate work at the University of Victoria.
