Weyerhaeuser Company Applies to Québec Securities Regulatory Authority to Have Its Reporting Issuer Status Revoked
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug 19, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE:WY) announced today that it has applied for a decision from the securities regulatory authority for Québec, the Autorité des marchés financiers, that it is no longer a reporting issuer in Québec.

Prior to April 29, 2008, Weyerhaeuser Company Limited, an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser Company, had exchangeable shares held by public shareholders which were listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol WYL. On April 29, 2008, an affiliate acquired all of the outstanding exchangeable shares, and former holders of these exchangeable shares received common shares in Weyerhaeuser Company on a one-for-one basis. Weyerhaeuser Company Limited ceased to be a reporting issuer in all jurisdictions in Canada on June 12, 2008. However, Weyerhaeuser Company remained a reporting issuer in the Province of Québec. Weyerhaeuser Company is not a reporting issuer in any other Canadian jurisdiction.

If the requested decision is made by the Autorité de marchés financiers, Weyerhaeuser Company will cease to be a reporting issuer in Québec and will no longer be a reporting issuer in any jurisdiction in Canada. Weyerhaeuser Company will continue to file all continuous disclosure reports required under U.S. securities laws (accessible at www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml) and will continue to deliver to its Canadian securityholders all disclosure that it is required to deliver to U.S. resident securityholders.
