Weyerhaeuser Introduces Pro Series™ Lumber

New product resists mold, saves labor and inventory costs from sorting out inferior boards

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., January 7, 2010 — To help builders and building material dealers improve their bottom lines in a tough economy, Weyerhaeuser has developed a new lumber product for a range of building applications - Pro Series™ Lumber. Weyerhaeuser's proprietary technology and quality control checks remove boards that have a greater tendency to eventually crook, twist or bow. The result is labor and material cost savings in the lumberyard and on the jobsite from reduced need to cull through piles of boards. Builders can rely on Pro Series Lumber to help achieve green building goals. The product carries a "Green Approved" rating by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center for use under the National Green Building Standard™. All pieces are also certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) standard, which addresses key environmental, social and economic forest values - from water quality and biodiversity to harvesting and regeneration. Pro Series Lumber, as with all wood products, helps reduce atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide through long-term storage of carbon, making it a natural choice for green building.
