"Locating our South American leadership position in Uruguay reinforces our commitment to the region, will allow us to execute our current strategy and provide the flexibility to seize on new Mercosur opportunities," said Steven R. Rogel, chairman, president and chief executive officer.

In his new role, Risco will report to Sandy McDade, senior vice president industrial wood products and international, and will be responsible for managing all of Weyerhaeuser's South American operations. This currently includes joint ventures and wholly-owned subsidiaries in Uruguay and Brazil. In addition, Risco will be involved in Weyerhaeuser company direction setting in South America.

"Ray's experience in many aspects of our business is an important element given the sharper focus we are developing in our South American operations," said McDade. "His knowledge of regional economies will add strength and depth to both our joint ventures and our wholly-owned businesses."

"I am also pleased to recognize the contributions of Gary Drobnack, who led our international operations in the Southern Hemisphere for the past four years," Rogel said. "Gary has built a strong organization, both in terms of people and operations. He and his team have positioned Weyerhaeuser as an industry leader in South America, Austral Asia and around the world. We are deeply indebted to Gary for his leadership, broad-gauged business insight, understanding of international business, and for the sum total of outstanding contributions he made throughout his distinguished 34-year career with Weyerhaeuser, much of it spend in offshore assignments."

Risco joined Weyerhaeuser Forestlands International in 1998. He was directly involved in the planning, development and management of the Latin American and Austral Asian businesses. Prior to taking the Uruguayan Joint Venture Managing Director role he served as the International Controller for Weyerhaeuser Company.
